                       The Chandler Fund

The Chandler Fund is a special medical fund set up by ARF, Inc. to help special need cockers that require medical needs far above what our regular rescue account can provide funds for. Most of the donations from the Chandler Fund will be used when a cocker needs to be seen by a specialist or needs heartworm treatment. These types of medical issues are the ones that drain our regular account. However, we at ARF are committed to helping the special need/senior cockers. Rescue is not all about saving the young, healthy ones. We want to make a difference for the seniors and special need cockers. We at ARF, Inc. feel they deserve a life just like the younger ones and do not deserve to be put to sleep because they are older or have special medical needs.

The Chandler Fund is a medical fund set up in honor of a very special ARF rescue Chandler. Chandler was dumped into the shelter heartworm positive and blind from cataracts. After being rescued by ARF, Chandler was treated for heartworms, given his shots, neutered and then, as the FIRST benefactor of the Chandler Fund, he had cataract surgery and his eyesight has been restored! Chandler is loving life today and sends plenty of cocker kisses to everyone for giving him a most precious gift...the gift of sight! This fund, set up in his honor, will be an ongoing fund and will go on to help many more cockers!

These cockers have been helped medically because of YOUR generous donations to the Chandler Fund and participation in our raffles to benefit this fund! They all want to say "THANK YOU!" for giving them the second chance they needed. They are all now living a wonderful life in their forever homes!!!!!

Scooter had almost two wonderful years with his foster parents, Donna and Larry Carpenter. They miss you so much, sweet Scooter Bug. Rest in peace and wait for all of us at the Bridge.

The Reason

I would've died that day if not for you.
I would've given up on life if not for your kind eyes.
I would've used my teeth in fear if not for your gentle hands.
I would've left this life believing that all humans don't care
Believing there is no such thing as fur that isn't matted,
Skin that isn't flea bitten, good food and enough of it,
beds to sleep on,
Someone to love me, to show me I deserve love just because I exist.
Your kind eyes, your loving smile, your gentle hands
Your big heart saved me...
You saved me from the terror of the pound,
Soothing away the memories of my old life.
You have taught me what it means to be loved.
I have seen you do the same for other dogs like me.
I have heard you ask yourself in times of despair why you do it
When there is no more money, no more room, no more homes
You open your heart a little bigger, stretch the money a little tighter
Make just a little more room...to save one more like me.
I tell you with the gratitude and love that shines in my eyes
In the best way I know how
Reminding you why you go on trying.

I am the reason
The dogs before me are the reason
As are the ones who come after.
Our lives would've been wasted, our love never given
We would die if not for you.
